  • Processing Time Updates from IRCC – September 2024

    Canada Immigration

Updated Application Processing Times – September 2024

After submitting your application, candidates often feel stressed while waiting for processing. The processing time depends on various factors. Monitoring monthly updates for citizenship, family sponsorship, and economic immigration applications, along with weekly updates for business immigration, all temporary residency applications, and permanent resident cards, will give you a better idea of the waiting time, as well as help you plan and arrange your work, family, and other related matters.

Proper and complete preparation of your documents is crucial for your application to be approved as soon as IRCC opens it. If your application is incomplete or unclear, IRCC will request additional information, which may extend the processing time. iCanPR, operated by RCIC, ensures that your application will be handled by two specialists simultaneously. This helps ensure that your documents are thorough and meet all of IRCC’s requirements.

What should I do when Canada has recently ended the temporary policy that allowed visitors to apply for work permits from within the country

You may know that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has officially ended the temporary public policy that permitted visitors to apply for work permits from within Canada, effective immediately.

I am in Canada as a visitor

    What should I do?

    • Explore Other Immigration Options: Look into different immigration pathways that may suit your situation

    • Consult with an Immigration Expert: Seek advice from an immigration consultant or lawyer to understand your options and get guidance on the best course of action based on your specific circumstances.

    • Check Your Eligibility for Extensions: If your visitor status is close to expiring, you might be able to apply for an extension to stay longer in Canada legally.

    • Plan for Departure: If staying in Canada isn’t feasible under your current status, begin making arrangements to return to your home country before your visitor status expires.

    • Stay Informed: Keep updated on any new policies or changes to immigration laws that might offer new opportunities in the future.

  • Saskatchewan has Updated the Excluded Occupation List for SINP Applicants

Updated the Excluded Occupation List for Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) Applicants

THE Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) is a vital provincial immigration initiative in Canada, designed to help the province of Saskatchewan nominate individuals for permanent residency. This program specifically targets individuals with the skills and experience that meet the demands of the local labor market, thus contributing to the province’s economic growth and development.

Overview of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)

The SINP is tailored to attract skilled workers, entrepreneurs, and investors. It features several distinct streams for potential applicants, including:

    • International Skilled Worker Category
    • Saskatchewan Experience Category
    • Entrepreneur Category
    • Farm Owner and Operator Category

Each of these streams has specific eligibility requirements and criteria that applicants must meet.

    Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)

Recent Updates to the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP)

On May 1, 2024, significant updates were made to the Saskatchewan Excluded Occupation List. This change has important implications for individuals applying for Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) visas through the Occupations In-Demand (OID) or Express Entry subcategories under the International Skilled Worker category of the SINP.

The goal of these updates is to ensure that nominated applicants possess skills and experience that align with the current economic needs of Saskatchewan. As it stands, only TEER 0 to TEER 3 occupations in NOC 2021 are eligible for the OID and Express Entry subcategories, with the exception of those listed in the Excluded Occupation List.

    Key Points for Applicants

    • Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must have their occupation listed under NOC 2021 TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 categories.
    • Excluded Occupations: Occupations found on the Saskatchewan Excluded Occupation List are not eligible for nomination.
    • Stay Informed: It’s crucial to check the latest status of your occupation before applying for Canadian PR, as the labor market needs can change.

Certain occupations are not eligible for the SINP subcategories requiring a job offer and Job Approval Letter (JAL) from a Saskatchewan employer unless specific criteria are fulfilled.

    Conclusion

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) remains a strategic pathway for individuals seeking to settle in Canada. By staying informed about eligibility requirements and updates, applicants can enhance their chances of successfully navigating the application process and achieving permanent residency in Saskatchewan.

  • Changes to the Start-up Visa and Self-Employed Persons programs to help reduce backlogs and improve processing times

    Business IMMIGTATION

    Updates to Canada Start-Up Visa
    (SUV) Program

Effective on Apr 30, Changes to the Start-Up Visa IRCC will now be altering the processing of Start-Up Visa applications by:

    – Putting a cap on the number of candidates that apply for Canada PR under this program by excluding applicants who are associated with no more than 10 start-ups per designated organization, and

    – Offering priority processing to entrepreneurs whose start-up is supported by a Canadian capital or business incubator that is a member of Canada’s Tech Network.

This implies that the Designated Organization will become more discerning, opting solely for well-prepared projects. With projects on hand, we require additional team members. If you have an English CLB 5 or above, along with at least 1 year of management experience, we invite you to join us.

    Business IMMIGTATION

Changes to the Self-Employed Persons Program

    Starting April 30, 2024:

    – There will be a full pause on the Self-Employed Persons Program application intake which is planned to be in place until the end of 2026.

This change is a result of the high number of applications within the program inventory, because of which processing times have increased to longer than 4 years. While the temporary pause has been put in place, IRCC will continue to finalize applications and look for opportunities to reform the program while maintaining its integrity.

“Fast processing is critical to the success of entrepreneurs who come to Canada through our federal business programs. These necessary changes will set the Startup Visa Program and Self-Employed Persons Program on the path to faster processing times while we look ahead to further reforms to make these programs more sustainable and effective over the long term.”
    – stated by Marc Miller – Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship.

We can explore and propose alternative solutions that align with your profile.
