    Latest Express Entry draw for Federal Skilled Trades category has cut-off CRS score of 284

    The latest Express Entry draw was done in the Federal Skilled Trades Class on September 24. The ICCRC issued 400 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates.

    The minimum CRS score for this draw was 284. It has been one of the lowest cut-off scores for this draw.

    This was the 100th Express Entry draw since its introduction in 2015.

    The last Express Entry draw held particularly for the ‘Federal Skilled Trades Class’ occurred on May 30, 2018.

    The criteria to be eligible if in ‘Federal Skilled Trades Class’ are:

    • At least two years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience) in a skilled trade within the last five years,
    • Meet all the job requirements for that skilled trade as set out in the National Occupational Classification.
    • Have a valid job offer of full-time employment for a total period of at least one year or a certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial, territorial or federal authority.

    Latest Express Entry invites 3,500 candidates for Canadian Permanent Residency

    The latest federal draw for Express Entry was held on September 19, 2018.

    A total of 3,500 Invitations to Apply (ITA) were issued in this draw. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for this draw was 441.

    Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) used the ‘tie-break’ method to select candidates.

    The ‘tie-break’ is a method of choosing candidates with the same CRS score. The profiles are ranked based on the date and time they were submitted was submitted. The candidate whose profile has been in the pool longer gets priority.

    This draw was one of the largest ones held this year. IRCC was issuing less than 3,000 invites in 2017 in September.

    Candidates, who wish to apply, have to be eligible in one of the following categories:

    • Federal Skilled Worker Class,
    • Federal Skilled Trades Class and
    • Canadian Experience Class.

    These provinces are growing economically. The provinces are going through big amounts of commercial and industrial growth. This means that the job market in these provinces is increasing as well. More job opportunities are becoming available to job seekers.

    The provinces of New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island have even increased their quota for the number of applications they will accept in 2018 because of the popularity of this program.

    So, what is Atlantic Immigration Pilot?

    It is an immigration program which is managed by the Federal Government of Canada and the four Atlantic Provinces of:

    New Brunswick
    Newfoundland and Labrador
    Nova Scotia
    Prince Edward Island

    This program is designed to help employer hire foreign skilled workers and utilize their experience and knowledge. The worker must meet the requirements of the employer. Then, if the worker receives a job offer, he/she will get Permanent Resident status in Canada.

    However, this program does not match candidates to employers. One cannot get hired through this program. Candidates must get a job offer by themselves.

    British Columbia conducted this week’s draw for Tech Pilot on August 30. It issued 32 Invitations to Apply for Permanent Residency under BC PNP.

    BC had launched its Tech Pilot Stream to hire more skilled talents for its growing tech jobs market.

    To be eligible, candidates have to meet the following criteria:
    Have an offer letter for a job which has at least a 1-year term.
    Your job must be in the tech pilot’s 29 priority occupations.
    BC PNP Tech Pilot has priority processing. Thus, applications are usually processed within 2-3 months.

    The Tech Pilot have weekly draws. Hence, don’t miss the next deadline!

    Student Direct Stream for students from China, India, Vietnam and the Philippines

    IRCC is implementing many progressive policies. Their goal is to promote Canada as an ideal location for higher studies among international students.

    The new Student Direct Stream (SDS) makes it easier for international students to apply for Students Visa and Study Permits.

    You can apply for SDS only if you are a legal resident of the following countries:

    • China
    • India
    • Vietnam
    • Philippines

    Please note that even if you are a citizen of one of the above countries but live in another country, you will have to apply through the regular study permit process.

    The new Student Direct Stream offers faster processing time for students with standard language skills.

    SDS is soon expected to be expanded to countries in Africa, including Kenya and Senegal.

    To qualify for SDS, student applicants must meet the additional requirements, which includes language skills.

    SDS is like Express Entry. It will allow students to apply for Canadian PR and citizenship after completion of their education.

    SINP: Saskatchewan holds first Express Entry Draw from EOI pool

    Saskatchewan issued the first lot of invitations from the EOI pool of candidates. It issued a total of 466 Invitations to Apply (ITAs).

    SINP had first launched its Express of Interest (EOI) system in July of this year.  EOI serves as a ‘pre-application’ for candidates.

    In the EOI system, Applicants must answer all questions based on work experience, education and proficiency in English or French, etc. Based on the response, a score out of 100 is given. The minimum score required to qualify is 60.  There are also other eligibility criteria.

    In the latest draw, the minimum score was 68. The invitations were issued to Express Entry candidates.

    Saskatchewan revised its In-Demand Occupation List. It is to ensure nomination for candidates with more possibility of employment.
